Hyderabad: School staff will go on ‘Badi Baat’ from today

Hyderabad: To increase and strengthen enrolment in government and local body schools, an admission drive called Prof. Jaishankar Badi Bata is set to begin on Thursday while schools will reopen on June 12. Schools have been asked to conduct door-to-door campaigns to identify children aged five years and above and get them enrolled in Class I in nearby primary schools. Apart from enrolling eligible Anganwadi children, teachers have been asked to identify and enrol school-going and out-of-school children, school dropouts, never enrolled and chronic absentees with the help of self-help groups. Child labour is to be identified and enrolled. The School Education Department has asked schools to conduct admission drives in coordination with village organisations besides involving self-help groups, Amma Adarsha Pathshala Samiti members, parents, old students, etc. Apart from admission promotion activities, both online and offline, government schools have been directed to hold preparatory programmes to inculcate interest in school and education among children and also keep textbooks, notebooks, workbooks and stitched uniforms ready by June 10. Parents are to be informed about special benefits including admission in IIIT Basara, fee reimbursement in higher education institutions for their children studying in government schools. A week-long series of activities has been scheduled after the admission drive ends on June 11. Mass Aksharaabhyas and Bala Sabha will be held for primary and high school students on June 14. Special activities regarding Inclusive Education Day and Girl Child Education Day have been scheduled on June 15, followed by awareness drives on digitisation of classrooms on June 18 and Sports Day on June 19.
