One person died and 22 animals died due to lightning in ASR district

Visakhapatnam. Visakhapatnam: One person and 19 cattle died in rain accompanied by strong winds in Alluri Sitaram Raju district on Friday.

According to information received here, Sidari Devaraju (30) of Gorelametta Village of Boodaralla Panchayat of Koyyuru Mandal had gone out to graze the cattle when heavy rain started. Devaraju took shelter under a jackfruit tree. He died after being struck by lightning while talking on the phone.

On Friday, lightning also struck the tribal-dominated Thotakurpadu Village of Durgam Panchayat of Hukumpet Mandal. As a result, two bulls and eight goats of farmer Pangi Kalyan, two bulls and five goats of Apparao and five goats of Chinna Rao died.
