Railway ticket confirmation game busted in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, over 200 letterheads seized
Patna (IANS) | The Visakhapatnam Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Muzaffarpur Police in a joint operation on Tuesday busted an interstate railway ticket confirming gang in Bihar. They have also seized over 200 letterheads of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs and MLAs. The gang leader has spread his network in almost every state and only PNR numbers of unconfirmed tickets are required for confirmation under MP quota.
The RPF of Andhra Pradesh had registered an FIR on 1 June 2022 at Marupulam Police Station in Visakhapatnam. During the investigation RPF had arrested some touts who had disclosed the modus operandi of getting unconfirmed tickets confirmed.
Inspector R Kumar Rao, who reached Muzaffarpur with the RPF team, informed the district police about this. Accordingly, a joint team raided Srikrishna Nagar area under Sadar PS. The accused came to know about the raid and fled from the spot before the arrival of the raiding party.
The accused was approached by touts and he used to send only PNR numbers. He was using letterheads of various MPs to confirm tickets under the VIP quota reserved for MPs. The police team is raiding his possible hideouts to arrest him.
