Kerala Startup Mission to tap commercial potential of food tech

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is paving the way for aspiring entrepreneurs in the food technology sector with a groundbreaking initiative – the virtual ‘Rink Demo Day’ scheduled for Friday. This event will spotlight nine innovative food technologies poised for commercialization, marking a significant stride towards fostering entrepreneurship in Kerala.

During the ‘Branding Challenge’ held alongside KSUM’s ‘Huddle Global 2023’, leading designers meticulously crafted distinct branding identities for these products. Now, these groundbreaking creations will take center stage at the expo, coinciding with National Technology Day, commencing at 10:30 am. The event is open to individuals involved in the food processing industry and aspiring entrepreneurs alike, offering them invaluable insights into cutting-edge food technologies and professionally crafted brand identities for each innovation.

Among the technologies to be showcased are coconut honey and coconut chips developed by ICAR – CPCRI, Kasaragod; seaweed pasta by KUFOS, Kochi; flavoured sugarcane wine by ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute Research Centre, Kannur; vacuum fried chips and sweet potato nutribar by ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram; ready-to-cook elephant foot yam by CSIR-NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram; as well as millet and seaweed cookies and fish protein wafers by ICAR-CIFT.

The ‘Rink Demo Day’ promises to be a launchpad for innovation, offering attendees access to transformative food technologies and the opportunity to embark on their entrepreneurial journey armed with the tools for success.
