2 bookies involved in IPL betting arrested in Kota
Raipur. Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh has directed all the police gazetted officers of Raipur Police, station in-charges including the in-charge Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit to trace the people involved in this business including those operating betting, take necessary action and effectively curb the business of betting. In the same sequence, the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit team received information that some people were running online betting through laptops and mobile phones by setting up a setup in the roof of a house near Shukrivi Bazaar located in Chandni Chowk under Saraswati Nagar police station area.
On which, under the direction of senior officers, a joint team of Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Saraswati Nagar police station went to the said place and raided the house by the informer. During the raid, two persons were found present in the terrace of the house, who during interrogation revealed their names to be Ashu Sharma and Mukesh Rao, residents of Saraswati Nagar, Raipur. When the team members checked the laptop and mobile phone kept with them, they were found to be conducting online betting. On which both the accused were arrested and 01 no. of laptop and 06 no. of mobile phone Jumla worth about Rs. 55,000/- were seized from their possession. Crime number 95/24 Section 4(a) Gambling Act and Chhattisgarh was registered against the accused in police station Saraswati Nagar. . Action was taken against the accused under Section 06 and 07 of the Gambling Prohibition Act 2022.
