More than 500 lawyers wrote a letter to CJI, expressed concern about specific groups
New Delhi: About 600 renowned lawyers of the country have written a letter to the Chief Justice of the country DY Chandrachud. In this letter, it has been alleged that a particular group wants to put pressure on the country’s judiciary and is attacking its sovereignty and autonomy. The lawyers who wrote this letter include Harish Salve, Manan Kumar Mishra, Adish Aggarwala, Chetan Mittal, Pink Anand, Hitesh Jain, Uday Holla. These lawyers have clearly written that there is a special group, which wants to put pressure on the court and is trying to reduce its autonomy. Lawyers say that this group is exerting pressure so that the decisions can be affected. This is being done especially in cases related to political people and corruption cases. Lawyers say that such efforts are posing a threat to the country’s democratic structure and judicial process. Lawyers said, ‘A wrong narrative is spread and things like the golden era of the court are said. An attempt is made to downplay the ongoing proceedings in the current cases and reduce public trust in them. The renowned lawyers who wrote the letter said that this is a group which wants to influence the judiciary in political matters. Apart from this, it wants to reduce public confidence in the court by spreading wrong narrative about it. No specific group or lawyer has been named in the letter, but it is believed that this letter has been written regarding the arguments of Abhishek Manu Singhvi in matters related to Arvind Kejriwal. Apart from this, Kapil Sibal had said in the Supreme Court last that this period will not be seen as a golden period. In a letter written to the Chief Justice, the lawyers said that now the judges are being directly attacked. Not only this, the political agenda is being increased in the court. It is being treated as if it is my highway. He said that when arguments are given to save a leader in corruption cases, questions are being raised directly on the court itself. that is not good. Apart from this, wrong comments are also being made regarding appointments to judicial posts.
