Big news related to arrested Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi: The hearing in the Delhi High Court on the petition of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested in the alleged liquor scam, has been postponed. The national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party has challenged his arrest and demanded his release from the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Kejriwal’s petition was heard briefly before the bench of Justice Swarnkant Sharma. ASG SV Raju, appearing for the ED, sought time to file the reply saying that despite the demand, he was given copies of the documents a day earlier. Senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who appeared with arguments on behalf of Kejriwal, said that there is no need to reply. Raju said that it can be said that there is no need to file a reply? On this the court said, ‘I can give you very little time for interim. I want answers. I will issue notice on the main petition. Let them answer. Singhvi said that he has challenged the remand which is ending on Thursday. ED had arrested Kejriwal on March 21. After this, the next day he was produced in the PMLA court from where he was sent to the custody of the central agency till March 28. Kejriwal had approached the Delhi High Court on Saturday itself demanding an immediate hearing. However, due to closure of the court on Holi, his plea could not be heard and was listed for Wednesday. Kejriwal has been arrested in connection with the alleged scam in the matter of excise policy implemented in 2021-22. It is alleged that the Delhi government unfairly benefited the liquor traders through this excise policy and in return bribes were taken from them. ED has described Kejriwal as the main conspirator of this scam. In this case, before Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are also in jail.
