It is considered auspicious to donate during the days of Holashtak, it brings happiness and peace in life and removes problems. It is also considered good to do Shiva Sadhana during this time, by doing this, troubles are averted.
During the days of Holashtak, one should not start any new work even by mistake. It is not good to do so. One should not finalize any relationship during this time nor should one do auspicious activities like marriage. Doing these tasks is prohibited. During the eight days of Holashtak, auspicious works like house warming, mundan (head shaving) should not be done even by mistake.
