Jammu-Srinagar highway opened for traffic after 12 hours

Srinagar: Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was opened for traffic on Friday after 12 hours. The highway was closed on Thursday due to landslides at Dalwas, Cafeteria More and other places. Traffic department officials said that light vehicles have started plying on the highway from both Srinagar and Jammu sides. “Heavy vehicles will also be allowed to move after 1 pm,” officials said. It is noteworthy that the approximately 300 km long Srinagar-Jammu highway is the lifeline of the valley. Through this, essential commodities are supplied here. Meanwhile, Srinagar-Leh Highway, Mughal Road, Sinthan-Kishtwar and Doda-Chamba roads are still covered with snow and closed for traffic.
