Lok Sabha elections: Police conducted flag march in sensitive areas of the city
In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the city police along with paramilitary forces conducted a flag march in the walled area here today.
The main objective behind the flag march was to create a sense of security among the city residents.
The teams were led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (City-I) Dr Darpan Ahluwalia and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central) Surinder Singh. The flag march was carried out here in areas falling under Division E Police Station, Division D Police Station, Gate Hakima and Islamabad Police Stations.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Pragya Jain said, “The flag march was organized from Hall Gate to Bharawan Da Dhaba, Katra Jaimal Singh, Godam Mohalla, Annagarh, Bharadiwal, Fatehpur etc.”
He said that the police also conducted foot patrolling in crowded and sensitive areas of the city.
“The flag march was organized in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country. We wanted to create a sense of security among the people besides warning anti-social elements who may create ruckus during voting,” he said. He said that police officers have been instructed to keep a close watch on the activities of mischievous elements.
Further, the DCP said that owners of hotels, inns and guest houses have been asked to maintain proper records of people checking-in and checking-out of their premises as per the rules. They were asked to inform the police if they found anything suspicious. Owners have also been asked to install CCTV cameras and ensure that they are in working condition.
