More than 36 lakh women of the state got freedom from smoke

Raipur. Women of the state are being given free gas connections for cooking under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Earlier women used to use wood, coal and pan for cooking. The smoke coming out of the stove had adverse effects on health. There was a burning sensation in the eyes. Under the good governance of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, women are getting freedom from smoke. Women now cook food quickly and free up time for other work also. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 36 lakh 76 thousand women have been given gas connections in the state. 60 year old Nanhibai of Birhor family, resident of village Bhuiyapani of Lailunga development block of Raigarh district, has got Ujjwala gas connection. He thanked the Chief Minister and said that now he does not have to go to the forest.

Nor are we forced to collect wood for cooking. There was fear of wild animals while bringing wood from the forest. There is also relief from the smoke of the stove. The happiness of the old grandmother being free from worries was visible. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, beneficiaries 30 year old Rambai, 55 year old Mankunwar Bai, 25 year old Durga, 35 year old Phulbasan Bai and 31 year old Usha Bai, residents of Koriya district Baikunthpur, shared their experiences and said that they have got a gas stove. How earlier one had to cook food on the stove, had to go to the forest to get wood, whereas while cooking food, the smoke caused cough and tears flowed from the eyes. Now with the availability of gas stove we have got rid of this problem. Phoolbasan Bai says that cooking with gas stove has become very easy. Even the utensils are not black. Usha Bai is motivating other eligible beneficiaries to take advantage of the scheme. This scheme is very beneficial for the family and also for the environment. Having a gas stove will prevent cutting of trees and will also maintain greenery.
