Police raids in Delhi, UP, seize heroin worth Rs 6 crore, 5 arrested

New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested five people in raids in the national capital and Uttar Pradesh. Police have recovered more than 900 grams of heroin from them, whose market value is said to be Rs 6 crore.

Crime Branch DCP Amit Goyal said, “After receiving specific input, the team conducted the raid. Drug smuggler Mahesh alias Nanu (37), resident of Shahdara, was arrested with a scooter from Mansarovar Park, Delhi. During the search, the team recovered 170 grams of heroin from the smuggler.

The DCP said that based on a tip-off, the police in another operation arrested Vikas alias Vicky (46), resident of Patel Nagar in Paschim Vihar area. Upon search, 460 grams of heroin and Rs 1.2 lakh in cash were recovered in a polythene.

During further investigation, police also arrested Lal Mohammed (51), resident of Bawana, and Satyan Mandal (35), resident of Sadar Bazar. In the third operation, the police arrested Sagarpur resident Ishant Wadhwa alias Ishan from Dabri Chowk area.

The DCP said, “During the search, a polythene containing 300 grams of heroin was recovered from his jeans pocket. Ishant Wadhwa used to purchase huge quantities of drugs from Bareilly in UP at the behest of his associates.”

The DCP further said, “The crime branch is targeting local drug smugglers. “Further investigation is being done in the cases to unearth the entire chain of drug smuggling.”
