Giving lift proved costly for scooter driver, injured in knife attack

Raigarh. In Jutmil police station area, a scoundrel who took a lift from a scooter-riding youth and asked for money attacked him with a knife. After this, the injured youth went to a private hospital for treatment, but since the case was of stabbing, the medical staff refused to treat him.

After this the youth reached the district hospital, by which time the police had come to know about it. The police interrogated the youth, but the youth said not to file an FIR. According to the information, Gopal Das Mahant (30) is a resident of Bhupdevpur Hardijharia.

He is a cook in the Collector Bungalow, living in a rented house near the BSNL office in Raigarh. The youth told that on Thursday night he had gone towards Chhatamuda Chowk bypass. While returning from there, a young man asked him for a lift on the way. The young man gave her a lift in his scooter. The miscreant asked to stop the car at a deserted place and then started asking for money. When the young man said that he did not have money, a fight started between the two. After this, when the miscreant showed him a knife, out of fear the young man gave Rs 500 to the miscreant. The scoundrel demanded more money. When he did not give, he attacked the young man with a knife. When the young man reached the hospital in the morning, the police came to know about it.
