Artist Hemant Vaishnav dies of dengue

Raipur. Chhattisgarh’s famous theater artist Hemant Vaishnav passed away today at 10 am. He was suffering from jaundice and dengue for a long time. Hemant Vaishnav, the hero of the famous play Raja Phokalva, played an important role in the field of folk art. He also wrote many plays in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi languages.

Hemanta Vaishnav made his mark across the country as Raja Phokalwa. He has staged the play Raja Phokalva directed by Rakesh Tiwari more than 150 times. Artists who worked with him say that Hemant Vaishnav used to sleep covering himself with a blanket half an hour before the presentation of his play. And when he woke up from sleep, he would not be Hemant Vaishnav but Fokalva. He would get so immersed in his character that everyone would be impressed by his multiple acting skills.

Hemant Vaishnav was an expert in making Chhattisgarhi dishes along with a good Rana Garmi. Those close to him say that his fondness for Chhattisgarhi food since childhood made him adept at becoming a Chhattisgarhi foodie. Whenever he got free time, he would serve Chhattisgarhi food to his family and guests.
