Ambedkar’s birthday celebrations in Mumbai to begin with 132 kg cake

Mumbai (IANS) | The organizers told here on Thursday that on April 8 (Saturday) in Mumbai, Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 132nd birth anniversary will begin with a 132 kg cake measuring 50 square feet. Born on 14 April 1891, Dr. Ambedkar, a legal luminary, was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and the first law minister of independent India. Dr. Vijay Kadam, coordinator of Bheemotsav Coordination Committee (BSS), said that on April 8 (Saturday), a grand function will be organized at Worli Jamboree Ground with several programmes.

Dr Kadam told IANS that it would mark the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar and the 125th anniversary of his wife Mata Ramabai, who is worshiped as Ramai, as well as the 117th year of their marriage.

Kadam said that a day earlier on Friday, a national level chess competition would be organized for the NS Samata Cup-2023 for young chess experts.
