Two students committed suicide under the pressure of board exams
Bhubaneswar. In separate incidents in Odisha, two students allegedly committed suicide due to board exam pressure. Police gave this information on Friday. The parents of Debasis Sethi, a Class 12 student in Ganjam district, returned home from the market on Thursday to find their son hanging from the ceiling fan of his room.
They immediately took him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. Acting on the information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Berhampur SDPO Debi Shankar Pratap Singh said, “Sethi’s parents said she was found indulging in malpractices by the internal squad at Khalikote University during the annual Plus 2 board examination of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE). The SDPO said that the student might have taken this step under severe mental pressure due to poor performance in the Physics paper.
