Caravans soon in Saputara, Shivrajpur beach, Rudrani dam
Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s tourism scenario is getting ready for change with the introduction of caravan tourism. The Gujarat Tourism Department has identified three picturesque destinations – Saputara, Shivrajpur beach in Devbhoomi Dwarka and Rudrani Dam in Kutch as prime locations to kick-start this new trend.
The caravan tourism model promises sightseeing, comfortable travel, privacy and home-cooked food, providing an experience to the travelers. Caravans designed to accommodate six, eight, ten or 12 passengers will be available, with each caravan park providing parking for 10 such vehicles. Each caravan vehicle will have essential amenities like kitchen, toilet, bathroom, television, music and internet, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable journey for the tourists.
Saputara is known for its tribal culture, displayed through traditional dance performances, handicrafts and festivals. Adventure lovers come to Saputara for trekking, boating and paragliding activities. Also, nature lovers enjoy its diverse flora and fauna, including the picturesque Saputara Lake and the majestic Gira Waterfall.
Shivrajpur beach located in Devbhoomi Dwarka district is known for its beauty and tranquil environment. This beach is known for its golden sand, crystal-clear waters and panoramic views of the Arabian Sea.
There are plans to set up a caravan park worth Rs 4 crore at Saputara, Gujarat’s only hill station, while proposals for caravan tourism at Shivrajpur Beach and Rudrani Dam are in the pipeline. Additionally, a caravan park has been proposed at Dhordo, sources said.
Travelers today, especially NRIs and NRGs, want privacy and home comforts while traveling. This is why Gujarat Tourism is introducing the ‘Caravan Concept’. Officials shared that caravan parks at Saputara, Shivrajpur Beach and Rudrani Dam will meet this demand, with Saputara Park scheduled to begin operations this year.
