E-beat app to replace traditional physical books of Goa police
An app will replace traditional physical police beat books in Goa.
Developed by Goa Engineering College (GEC) students, the E-Beat app has set a precedent in the country as it is for the first time in the country that students have developed a solution for a state police department.
The app was launched by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday at his official residence.
“This indigenous application will set a precedent for modern solutions that promote transparency,
accountability, and efficiency in law enforcement practices,” said Sawant, congratulating the students of GEC and the Police department.
He said that similar apps will be introduced in other departments to ensure transparency and accountability.
The key features of the app include secure access through biometric or Face ID authentication, OTP-based registration, user-friendly profile management, location and person tracking, integration with Maps, and real-time tracking through the dashboard.
In the market, this app costs over half-a-crore rupees.
The students developed this app free of cost under the MoU signed between Goa Police and GEC. The app can be given to other police organisations as well on demand at nominal rates.
The application is a fallout of the Createathon competition organised by Goa police last year, and has been developed by the student team led by Atharv Parkhe, comprising Aryan Ghorpade, Abhinav Kurup, M. Greeshma, Nathan Henriques, Raghuram Shetty, and Ridikesh Dilip Vernekar.

It highlights the potential for positive change through innovative technology and dedicated teamwork, bringing modern policing to the forefront in Goa.
Director general of police Jaspal Singh; Inspector General of Police Omveer Singh Bishnoi; Superintendent of Police North and Crime Branch Nidhin Valsan; Principal of GEC Dr. Krupashankara MS; Dean of IT department Nilesh Faldessai, GEL CEO Revathy, industrialist and Android man of Goa Prajyot Mainkar, GEC faculty member Aisha Fernandes and others were present on the occasion.
