DBCE, St Xavier’s College win basketball titles
St Xavier’s College and Don Bosco College of Engineering came out triumphant in the Inter-Collegiate Basketball Women’s and Men’s Championship, organized by Goa University at the Manohar Parrikar Indore Stadium, Navelim held recently.
St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, retained their title in the Women’s section, defeating Don Bosco College, Panjim, 42-26 in a thrilling final at the Manohar Parrikar Indore Stadium in Navelim from January 16th to 18th, 2024. Sejal Kudnekar of St Xavier’s was named Best Player Women.
In the Men’s final, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, edged out St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, 49-46 in a hotly contested match. Aaryan Raut of Don Bosco College was awarded Best Player Men.
Both teams had impressive journeys to the finals. St Xavier’s women defeated V. M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, 31-02 in the semifinals, while Don Bosco College, Panjim, edged out S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, 23-14.
In the Men’s semifinals, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, overpowered Goa Medical College Bambolim 52-29, while St Xavier’s College defeated S. S. Dempo College 50-40.
Maria Simoes and Balachandra B Jadar presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up at the closing ceremony.
