Ahmedabad: Ordering eye lenses cost the businessman dearly, miscreants took out 17.84 lakhs from his account

Online frauds are increasing in today’s modern era. Incidents of people being cheated of withdrawing money from banks through online transactions are coming to the fore. A senior citizen businessman in Ahmedabad city has found it costly to order eye lenses. Chennai-based thugs siphoned off Rs 17.84 lakh from the account of this senior citizen businessman by making a transaction of Rs 5 through Tracon courier. The businessman has lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police station.

Lenses were ordered for cataract surgery

According to the information received, Mayurbhai Dave, who lives in Paldi area of Ahmedabad, works as an insurance agent. He had received an order for lenses for cataract surgery from Shrimad Jai Singh Bapa Hospital, Idar, Sabarkantha. Due to which my cousin Rajeshbhai Dave lives in Mumbai. They have a wholesale distribution ship for these lenses. He messaged this order on WhatsApp. He told the complainant that the order for the lens has been placed in Chennai and he will send it through Tracon courier.

Asked to take order by doing transaction of five rupees

When the order was not received for two days, he talked to the employee of Tracon Courier, then he asked to take the order by doing a transaction of five rupees. After this he asked for the mobile number and address. The next day, 17 lakh 84 thousand rupees were withdrawn from the complainant’s account through different transactions. Thereafter, the complainant lodged a complaint with the Cybercrime Police Station.
