Cricket competition organized in MLSM College Sundernagar
Sundernagar. In the first super knockout match of the North India Inter University Cricket Competition, which started at Maharaja Laxman Sen Memorial College, HNBU Garhwal defeated Adesh University by 33 runs and entered the next round. The competition was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mandi Arindam Chaudhary. SDM Sundernagar Girish Samra remained as special guest. Garhwal’s team, which came to bat first after winning the toss, scored 154 runs at the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
The team’s opener batsman Preyansh made a good start and scored 17 runs in 15 balls with the help of three fours. After this, Pranjal Aswal was playing on 40 runs in 30 balls. But then he got caught by Mehraj on the next ball of Arsalan. After this, Rahul Chauhan scored 18, Rohit Bahadur 17, Pratham Sharma scored 20 and Sarthak Pant also scored 20 unbeaten runs. From Aadesh’s side, Mudassar Nazir scored maximum four runs, Arsalan and Sushil scored one each and two players were run out.
Apart from one or two players of the Adesh University team that came to chase the target, no one else could do wonders in the field and the entire team was limited to 120 runs. The team’s opener batsman Firdous Ahmed Bhat returned to the pavilion without opening the account in the very first ball of Vishwas Gulati. His fellow batsman Monish Bashir also lost his wicket after scoring five runs on the ball of Yug Kaniyal. After this, Zishan Mohyuddin, who came to the field, took charge of the team and played a brilliant inning of 61 runs on 56 balls with the help of two sixes and six fours. After this Musanna Mushtaq scored 17 runs and Kawaldeep Singh scored 11 runs.
Apart from this, no player could even cross the double figures. From Garhwal, Sarvanam Gautam took four wickets, Vishwas and Yug took two wickets each and Pratham Sharma took one wicket. In the third match, LPU defeated Cluster University Jammu by 38 runs. On the inaugural occasion, college principal Dr. Kameshwar Kumar, organizing secretary Lokesh Sharma, HPCA umpire and technical coordinator of the competition, Prof. Anil Guleria, cricket coach and grounds in-charge Divya Prakash appointed by HPU Shimla were present.
