Banarasi Paan: Banarasi Paan and Langda Mango got GI Tag, apart from these these things of UP are also famous all over the world

Banarasi Paan: Years old and famous Banarasi paan and Banarasi langda mango are in great discussion these days. These two products are the ones that have got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. Apart from these, Adamchini rice of neighboring Chandauli district is also included in the GI club.

The GI registry was done on March 31, in which GI certification of 33 products was done in a single day. Out of these 10 products are from Uttar Pradesh alone and out of that also three products are from Varanasi alone. As of now, there are 45 GI items in UP, out of which 20 are from the Varanasi region of Eastern UP. So far, GI certification of 441 Indian products and 34 foreign items has been done by the GI Registry.

These products also got GI tag-
Apart from paan and mango, another famous agricultural product of Varanasi, Ramnagar’s Bhanta (Brinjal) has also been given GI certification. ‘Adamchini chawal’ (rice) from neighboring Chandauli district had joined the GI club a month ago. With the inclusion of these new items in the GI club, the agriculture and horticulture sector of Varanasi will get a big boost.
