Incense stick of death, elderly woman burnt alive

Durg. An elderly woman sleeping on a cot in the Jamul police station area of the district was burnt alive in a fire. To protect him from mosquitoes, the family members had lit mosquito repellent incense sticks and placed them under the old man’s cot.

At night, first the incense sticks, then her blankets and then her cot caught fire and she got trapped in it. Due to this he died by burning alive.

Jamul police station said that elderly Dukhiya Bai (90) was sleeping in her room on Friday night. His son and daughter-in-law were sleeping in a separate room.

To protect herself from mosquitoes, the daughter-in-law lit a mosquito repellent incense stick in the old lady’s room and kept it under the cot. Due to extreme cold at night, when the old woman covered herself with a blanket, it hung down and the mosquito touched the incense stick, due to which the blanket caught fire. Later the fire engulfed the cot also.
