Goa News: Former MLA Naresh Sawal resigns from MGP
Panaji: Former Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal on Thursday resigned from the primary membership of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).
Sawal said he would consult his workers, supporters and well-wishers before deciding the further course of action within the next eight days.
In his resignation letter submitted to MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar, Sawal said, “The organization of MGP has failed in carrying out its activities from the top to the grassroots level. “People have lost their faith and hope in the organisation.”
On a question about his future plans, Sawal said that he wants to contest the Lok Sabha elections and will decide from which party to contest after consulting his workers and supporters.
Sawal unsuccessfully contested the 2017 and 2022 Goa Assembly elections twice on an MGP ticket.
Reacting to Sawal’s resignation, MGP President Dhavalikar said that his party belongs to the Bahujan Samaj and Sawal’s departure will not affect the party.
Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said, “It is unfortunate that a good worker has left the MGP. There are many people who left one party and joined another party for better prospects. My best wishes are always with him. I don’t know whether his resignation has been accepted or not. I respect his decision. The progress of the party does not depend only on the Dhavalikar brothers. Everyone should work. I have no comment on the stagnation of the party but I can say that if the party has to move forward then everyone needs to work.
