4 Maoists arrested, soldiers launched Operation Surya-Shakti

Bastar. Operation Surya-Shakti was launched between 12 and 16 January in the villages of the border areas of Kanker, Narayanpur and Gadchiroli on information about the presence of Maoists in Maad of Naxalites and North Bastar Division. Teams of STF, Kanker DRG, Narayanpur DRG and BSF were involved in this operation. In which there have been encounters between police and Naxalites at many places. During this, security forces recovered a large quantity of Naxal dump material.

During Operation Surya Shakti campaign, security forces demolished the factory of making barrel grenade launcher (BGL) of Naxalites in Sanghan forest-hills and drilling machines, punching machines etc. were recovered from the factory. Looking at the seized arms and ammunition, it appears that the Naxalites had hidden a large quantity of explosive material to cause damage to security forces, civilians and property, which were seized during the joint operation.

During Operation Surya Shakti, many camps of Naxalites were demolished in the dense forests. The weapons factory being manufactured by the Naxalites was caught and by seizing a large quantity of weapons, the security forces have foiled the plans of the Naxalites even in the impenetrable area of Maad. In this operation the police party has arrested 4 Maoists.
