Notice issued to BLO, election duty not taken seriously

Kanker. Collector and District Election Officer Abhijit Singh today inspected Mahurbandpara polling station under Kanker Assembly constituency and became aware of the progress of the ongoing special brief revision program for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections-2024. During this, he said that the voter list special revision program is the highest priority work of the Election Commission and all the officers and employees engaged in it should discharge their responsibilities with alertness and seriousness.

The Collector went to polling booth number 51 located at local Mahurbandpara and asked BLO Mandavi about the total number of voters, number of newly added voters, applications received for removal and shifting of names. BLO said that there are a total of 930 voters in this polling station. Under the special summary revision work currently going on, applications have been received so far to add names of 6 new voters in the voter list. While examining the applications of new voters, the Collector expressed his displeasure that all these names were to be added only during the Assembly Elections-2023. If the BLO did not get a satisfactory reply on this, he was instructed to issue a show cause notice. On this occasion, Deputy District Election Officer Ashok Marable, SDM Manish Sahu and other officials were present.
