Forest department raids carpenter’s house, valuable wood seized
Korba. In Korba, the Forest Department has conducted a raid on the house of a carpenter living in a remote Vananchal village. During the raid, the department recovered a large amount of wood. The Forest Department has seized valuable timber worth Rs 1.25 lakh from the carpenter along with tools used in making furniture. Action has been taken against the accused under Forest Act
According to the information, Ranger Dinesh Ratre along with his team raided the house of carpenter Chamru Ram living in village Ghatpara of Irf Beat. Where the team found a large number of Bija wooden boards and doors and windows inside the house. Which was kept for consumption somewhere else.
On enquiry, Chamru informed that he worked as a carpenter. He talked about making silpat, doors and windows and other items from beeja wood. During interrogation, he could neither produce valid documents related to wood nor to work as a carpenter. Therefore, the forest department team took action against the carpenter.
