Nalgonda: Dalits protested demanding closure of Dalit Bandhu units
Nalgonda: In line with the expectations of Dalit Bandhu Sadhana Samiti, members of the Dalit community protested in front of the Nalgonda District Collector on Monday demanding the foundation of extended procedures for the beneficiaries as part of the second phase of the scheme.
Extending his support to the Dalit agitators, former Nalgonda Deputy Kancherla Bhupal Reddy recorded that Dalit Bandhu handouts have been distributed to 1,056 Dalits in Nalgonda assembly electoral district as part of the second phase of Dalit Bandhu. The previous BRS government had sanctioned Rs 3 lakh to each beneficiary in December 2022. But the electoral code has become a hindrance in stabilization of the units, he said.
Accusing the Congress government of hatching a conspiracy to cancel various social assistance schemes including Dalit Bandhu, it directed the state government to suspend the units sanctioned for Dalits in the second phase of the scheme.
Committee coordinator Palagudu Nagarjuna said the agitation would intensify if the state government did not succeed in mobilizing Dalit-sanctioned units in the second phase of Dalit Bandhu.
