BENGALURU: IKF co-chairman Sajjan Jindal suggests creating industrial parks near airports

BENGALURU: Invest Karnataka Forum (IKF) co-chairman Sajjan Jindal on Monday suggested setting up industrial parks in areas that are about a two-hour drive from airports in the state.

Participating in the first meeting of the reconstituted IKF meeting through video-conferencing, Jindal said setting up such industrial parks will help in attracting increased investment.

Industries Minister MB Patil, who chaired the meeting, said the government also intends to set up industrial parks in an area of about 5,000-10,000 acres. He said plug-in facilities would be set up in such parks to enable operation of industries.

The minister said investments worth Rs 55,000 crore have been confirmed under the current government and various proposals worth about Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore are in various stages of the process.

During the meeting it was decided to create a sub-group within the IKF to focus on regional investment. They reviewed key developments over the past months and deliberated on a roadmap to move forward. IKF directors Gitanjali Kirloskar of Kirloskar Systems and Vijay Krishnan Venkatesan of Kenna Metals were present, the release said.
