India records 4,049 active Covid cases
New Delhi: On Sunday, the Health Ministry said that 756 new cases of Covid were recorded in India, while the number of active cases of infection is 4,049.
According to the ministry data updated at 8 am, there were five deaths in a 24-hour period, two each in Kerala and Maharashtra and one in Jammu and Kashmir.
The number of daily cases had fallen to double digits by December 5, 2023, but cases began to rise again after the emergence of a new variant and cooler climatic conditions.
The maximum increase of cases in a day after December 5 was recorded on December 31, 2023, when 841 cases were reported, official sources said.
Most of the total active cases (about 92 per cent) are recovering under home isolation.
India has seen three waves of COVID-19 in the past and the maximum incidence of new cases and deaths per day was recorded during the Delta wave in April-June 2021. At its peak, 4,14,188 new cases were reported in May. cases and 3,915 deaths. Consulted on January 7, 2021.
Since the pandemic began in early 2020, more than 4.5 million people have been infected and more than 5.3 lakh have died.
According to the ministry’s website, the number of people who have recovered from the disease has increased to more than 44 lakh, with the national recovery rate at 98.81 percent.
