Hyderabad: A second year undergraduate student, who was reportedly addicted to the PUBG game, committed suicide at his home in Yellareddyguda, Punjagutta on Wednesday night. The incident came to light on Saturday.

According to the police, P Akhil has been living with his mother S Jaya after the death of his father five years ago. On Wednesday night, Akhil had come telling his mother that he was working somewhere and would return after meeting a friend in Srinagar Colony. However, at around 8 pm, she sent a text message to her mother that read, “Bye, mom, I love Jagrath.”

Alarmed by the incidents, her mother ran into the house and found the main door locked from inside with a key. With the help of neighbors they broke the door and found a fan hanging from the ceiling. “Akhil was shifted to a private hospital where he died during treatment the same night,” Punjagutta sub-inspector S Upendrababu said.
