Mysuru: Good response to voluntary bandh in Nanjangud

Mysuru: The so-called bandh called by members of Srikanteshwara Bhakta Mandali demanding the arrest of miscreants who allegedly threw ‘used water’ on the procession deities during a ritual at the temple received a good response. The forum had called for a Nanjangud bandh from 6 am to 5 pm on Thursday (January 4). Traders, traders and others had given up their banned goods and extended their support in response to the voluntary bandh call given by the platform. Autorickshaw conductors and Srikanteshwar temple staff also provided assistance. Under the leadership of former MLA Harsh Vardhan, members of the devotee group and a large number of people took out a peaceful protest march in the city. It is noteworthy that on December 26, there was a rift between two groups over ‘Andakasuran slaughter’, a ritual in the temple. Rangoli of the demon Andakasura is made on the way and devotees step on it to represent his destruction. However, some people objected to this, which created an uproar. While the ritual continued, it is believed that water was added to the bodies during the process. After this the platform demanded action and arrest against the miscreants and abandoned the Nanjangud bandh.
