Karnataka News: Road Transport Corporation starts Namma cargo truck service

Bengaluru: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation on Saturday launched trucks service ‘Namma (Our) Cargo’ and minister Ramalinga Reddy pointed to 20 vehicles. At that time, the Transport Minister had said that 100 trucks would be installed within a month and 500 more trucks would be installed by the end of next year. Reddy said Basaveshwara bus station at Peenya will be used as a depot for operation and maintenance of these trucks and the remaining vacant space will be provided to government enterprises to generate business income. “With an aim to leverage its strength in passenger transportation business in 2021, KSRTC forayed into logistics business under the brand “Namma Cargo” for transportation of packages in KSRTC route buses. In this sense, KSRTC is launching a new “Namma Cargo” service of trucks equipped with GPS for transportation of goods”, the state transport corporation said. According to KSRTC, the trucks will transport goods through Karnataka with safe, fast and reliable services. KSRTC is one of the largest transport corporations in the country. It has 16 divisions, 83 depots, 174 buses, 7,649 transport services and a fleet of 8,355 buses, he said.
