Notice to 7060 on GST violation

Shimla. The department has tightened its grip against firms violating State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) rules, but despite this action, the department has not been able to recover a large amount of money. The Excise and Taxation Department has issued notices to 7060 firms across the state for violation of GST rules.

The department has to recover Rs 992.27 crore from these firms through notice and so far Rs 204.06 crore has been recovered.

Rs 788.21 crore is still to be collected. The department has issued notices to all of them under sections 73 and 74 of the State Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. It is noteworthy that after setting the target of GST collection, the department has taken strict steps. Under these steps, vigil has been increased on the entry routes into the state.

Due to continuous monitoring, cases of GST rigging have come to light on a large scale and now the Excise and Taxation Department has started the recovery work in the identified cases.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu gave this information while answering the question of Shreenayanadevi MLA Randhir Sharma in the Assembly. The department has intensified efforts for recovery from the firms to which notices have been given.
