Amit Shah accepts Rahul Gandhi as the leader of the opposition

Patna | Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) on Thursday claimed that Union Minister Amit Shah accepted Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of the Opposition during a rally in Lakhisarai district.

Shah, who is visiting Bihar for the first time after a meeting of 16 opposition parties in Patna on June 23, said at the rally that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, people will choose between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. However, he took a jibe at Rahul, saying that the Congress’s efforts to establish him as a “people’s leader” for the past 20 years had failed. At a press conference soon after the rally, JDU national general secretary and spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan said, “Shah finally accepted Rahul Gandhi as the leader of the united opposition, which took shape at a meeting here last week hosted by Nitish Kumar.” . So far, the BJP has been refusing to accept Rahul as its leader.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said, “Opposition unity has scared the BJP. Amit Shah repeatedly appealed to the people to vote for Modi again. But the crowd present at the rally remained indifferent to his appeal.” Congress’s Bihar unit president Akhilesh Prasad Singh accused Shah of “trying to disturb communal harmony on a day when the festival of Bakrid is being celebrated”. ‘
