Thunderstorm in 15 districts of Jharkhand amid monsoon rains, 11 killed
Ranchi (IANS) | Monsoon clouds, which arrived in Jharkhand 24 hours ago, have caused heavy rains in 15 out of 24 districts of the state including Ranchi on Tuesday. In addition to the monsoon rains, there have been several incidents of lightning in different parts of the state during the last 24 hours, in which 11 people have lost their lives. Whereas, more than one and a half dozen people have been injured. Three deaths have been reported in Gumla district, two each in Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti and Simdega. In Gurgurchuan village under Torpa block of Khunti district, 14 people were injured simultaneously due to lightning.
The meteorological center has issued an orange alert in the state for the next four days. There is a possibility of light to moderate thunder and lightning in Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Khunti, Chatra, Gumla, Latehar, Lohardaga, Simdega, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Chaibasa, Godda, Koderma, Simdega and Dumka districts till June 23. It may rain with thunder.
In the last 24 hours, Masanjore in Dumka district of the state has recorded maximum rainfall of 73 mm. It has been told that “strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in these districts.” A drop of 4 to 5 degrees can be recorded in the temperature of all the districts of the state in the next two to three days. Monsoon rains are expected at all places in the state from June 21 to 23.
