Chennai rains led to waterlogging, 10 international flights diverted
Chennai: Overnight widespread rainfall and moderate rainfall in Chennai left some parts of the city waterlogged on June 19, said reliable reports.
The Greater Chennai Corporation on Monday said that Chennai recorded 102mm of rain from 8:30am on Sunday to 8:30am on Monday, that is 24 hours continuously.
Chennai rains led to waterlogging in the Airport also. As many as 10 international flights were diverted to Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport.
As many as 22 motor pumps were run across Chennai to remove the stagnated water from various main roads in the capital of Tamil Naidu.
The DGP and director of fire and rescue services Abash Kumar, said that clear instructions have been given to clear the waterlogging on war footing basis.
The fire personnel are in touch with the police control room and corporation officials to remove the uprooted trees. One team has also kept on standby near the state disaster rescue force, said reports.
