Odisha train accident: 137 people reached Chennai by special train
Chennai (IANS) | At least 137 survivors of the Odisha train accident reached Chennai railway station on Sunday morning. Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian and Health Secretary Gagan Singh Bedi welcomed the returnees after beating death at Dr. MGR Chennai Central Railway Station.
Waliyul Islam from Bangladesh, who had arrived by train with his family, told media persons that he was going to Chennai on the Coromandel Express for his wife’s cancer treatment. He told that his wife and daughter have suffered minor injuries in the accident. He thanked God for averting the disaster.
Shivranjini and her daughter Sanjana Shree had gone to Kolkata on leave to spend time with her husband Satish Kumar, who is in the BSF and is posted there. He said that when he was taken out of A2 coach, he saw dead bodies all around. It was a sad and shocking experience.
At least 18 injured passengers were taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital.
Several others have been put up in hotels in the city before being taken to their respective towns in different parts of Tamil Nadu and some in Kerala.
