Google searches for ‘The Elephant Whispers’ spike 8,164% after Oscar win

New Delhi (IANS) | Online searches on Google for ‘The Elephant Whispers’ have increased by 8,164 per cent worldwide after it won the Best Documentary Short Film award at the 95th Academy Awards, a report revealed on Friday. Searches by African media company Celeb Tatler have revealed that online searches for Mudumalai National Park have increased by 246 per cent worldwide following the Oscar win of The Elephant Whispers.

After making history at this year’s Academy Awards, The Elephant Whispers is receiving a massive boost in online searches, said a Celeb Tatler spokesperson. Not only Hollywood but the world has also adopted it. The film, which released last year, and scored an unheard of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, was praised for its compelling story. Now, after winning the ‘Documentary Short Film’ award at this year’s Oscars, the film’s profile is being boosted far beyond its initial release.

Besides this, the profile of the film’s producer Guneet Monga also got a boost from the award-winning documentary, gaining around 30,000 new followers since the award ceremony, the report added. Karthik Gonsalves benefited for his directorial debut, with his Wikipedia page views increasing by over 125,000 after the Oscar ceremony. In addition, his Instagram account has grown to over 25,000 followers, nearly doubling his follower count overnight.

Meanwhile, online searches for natu-natu on Google saw a worldwide jump of 1,105 per cent after the super-hit song from Telugu blockbuster RRR bagged the Best Original Song award at the 95th Academy Awards, according to a report.
