Dehradun. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made many important announcements for the youth, sportspersons and Provincial Guard (PRD) personnel of the state. The Chief Minister said that CM Sports Clubs will be established in every Gram Panchayat of the state, which will provide an opportunity to the sports talents of rural areas to progress. Along with this, it has been announced to establish Agniveer Training Center in Dehradun. Giving indication of increasing the honorarium of PRD jawans, the Chief Minister said that a meeting will be organized in this regard soon. At the same time, under the CM Championship Trophy, it has also been announced to increase the prize money of Chief Minister Cup from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. These announcements of the government are being linked to the expansion of sports facilities in the state, skill development of youth and the interests of PRD soldiers.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that there is no dearth of sports talent in rural areas of Uttarakhand. There is a need to provide these talents with appropriate training, facilities and opportunities at the right time. For this purpose, the government has decided to open CM Sports Club in every gram panchayat of the state. Through these clubs, there is a plan to promote sports activities in the villages and encourage the youth to practice regularly.
Considering the geographical conditions of Uttarakhand, development of sports facilities in rural areas holds special importance. In many villages of hilly districts, youth have to go to remote towns or big cities for sports training. In such a situation, by establishing a sports club at the Gram Panchayat level, local players can get an opportunity to join sports activities in their surroundings. However, the detailed outline of which sports will be included in these clubs and how the training system will be operated is yet to be revealed.
The Chief Minister has also announced to set up Agniveer Training Center in Dehradun. The objective of this center will be to provide training facilities to the youth preparing to join the Indian Armed Forces as Agniveer. A large number of youth in Uttarakhand aspire to serve in the army and other security forces. Many families of the state also have a tradition related to military service.
Establishment of Agniveer Training Center can help the youth preparing for recruitment to get training related to physical efficiency, discipline and selection process. Apart from this, guidance can be provided to the youth regarding the prescribed standards of recruitment and methods of preparation. However, detailed information regarding eligibility for admission to the training centre, fees, appointment of trainers and time limit for operation has not been released yet.
The issue of increasing the honorarium of Provincial Guard soldiers also remained prominent in the Chief Minister’s announcements. Dhami said that a meeting will be organized soon regarding increase in honorarium of PRD soldiers. Proposals and necessary arrangements related to honorarium are likely to be considered in this meeting. PRD jawans perform responsibilities in various departments and public systems in the state.
PRD jawans have been raising their demands regarding honorarium and service related facilities for a long time. After the Chief Minister’s announcement, the soldiers are expected to increase their honorarium. However, no final announcement has been made yet regarding how much the honorarium will increase and when the new rates will come into effect. The situation will become clear after the meeting of the concerned departments on the proposal and the decision at the government level.
With the aim of promoting sports, the Chief Minister has also announced to increase the prize money of the Chief Minister Cup under the CM Championship Trophy. The prize money of Rs 5 lakh fixed so far will be increased to Rs 10 lakh. Thus, an increase of Rs 5 lakh is proposed in the prize money. The aim of the government is to encourage players to perform better and increase participation in sports competitions.
An increase in prize money can provide additional incentive to players and teams participating in the competition. Along with this, it is also expected to help in increasing the interest of youth towards sports competitions organized at the state level. However, detailed information regarding distribution and eligibility rules of the increased prize money is yet to be released by the concerned department.
The Uttarakhand government has been emphasizing on the development of sports facilities and encouraging players for the last few years. Efforts are being made to connect youth with sports through sports grounds, training centers and organizing competitions in the state. The new announcements of the Chief Minister are also considered important in this direction.
Establishment of sports clubs in rural areas of the state can provide special benefits to those youth who do not currently have adequate sports facilities. Regular training and participation in competitions can provide opportunities to players to showcase their talent at the district, state and national levels.
Similarly, the aim is to provide a systematic training system to the youth preparing for military recruitment through Agniveer Training Centre. There has been a special attraction for the youth in the hilly and border areas of Uttarakhand towards joining the army. In such a situation, the proposed center in Dehradun can prove useful for the youth.
