Murder incident in Noney: Kuki Inpi expresses protest, demands justice

Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has condemned the killing of three Kuki-Zo village volunteers in Manipur’s Noney district, accusing cadres of the NSCN-IM and ZUF(K) of carrying out the attack and demanding immediate action from the state government.
In a statement, KIM expressed grief over the killings and described the incident as an attack on the safety and security of the Kuki-Zo community.
The organisation alleged that the deaths were the result of the government’s failure to provide adequate security to vulnerable Kuki-Zo settlements in Noney district. It claimed that residents had been exposed to repeated threats and armed intimidation despite warnings about potential dangers.
KIM further alleged that the perpetrators desecrated the bodies of the deceased after the killings, claiming that they kicked and mocked the bodies. The organisation condemned the alleged conduct and called for accountability.
Holding the authorities responsible for what it described as negligence, KIM accused the government of failing to prevent armed groups from operating unchecked in the region. It also alleged that the continued presence of NSCN-IM and other armed groups had contributed to insecurity in Kuki-Zo settlements.
The organisation demanded immediate government intervention, justice for the deceased and accountability for those responsible for the killings.
KIM also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and the wider Kuki-Zo community, stating that the deaths of the three village volunteers should not be treated as mere statistics.
The allegations made by KIM in its statement have not been independently verified. The statement did not include responses from the NSCN-IM, ZUF(K) or the state authorities.
