Major setback for BJP ahead of UP elections; former MP Dharmendra Kashyap quits the party.

Lucknow. Political turmoil has intensified in Uttar Pradesh before the 2027 assembly elections. Dharmendra Kashyap, a senior leader of Rohilkhand region and a two-time MP from Amla Lok Sabha seat, has announced to leave the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After his decision, a round of discussions has started in the politics of the state. The situation is not clear yet as to which political party Dharmendra Kashyap will join after separating from BJP. However, there is speculation about his joining Samajwadi Party. The former MP has also not clearly denied the possibility of joining SP. He has said that he will decide the future political strategy after talking to supporters and workers.

Left BJP after post on social media

The discussion about Dharmendra Kashyap leaving BJP started on Tuesday, October 6, when he shared a post on social media writing ‘Tata-bye bye’. After this post surfaced, various discussions started taking place in political circles regarding his next step.

The next day, on Wednesday, October 7, Dharmendra Kashyap came in front of the media and announced his departure from BJP. He also expressed his displeasure over the functioning of the party organization. His decision is being considered an important political development in Rohilkhand region before the upcoming assembly elections.

Resentment related to 2024 Lok Sabha elections

Former MP Dharmendra Kashyap has cited the incidents that happened during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the main reason behind leaving BJP. He alleges that some party leaders had worked against him in the elections. Despite this, the organization gave importance to the concerned leaders instead of taking action against them.

Dharmendra Kashyap says that he worked for the party for a long time, but those who did activities against him were given responsibilities in the organization. He is hurt by this.

However, the side of the concerned BJP leaders is not available on these allegations. Therefore, the allegations of internal conflict during the elections should be considered as the claims of the former MP.

Amla became MP for two consecutive terms

Dharmendra Kashyap is among the old political faces of Rohilkhand region. He won the election from Amla Lok Sabha seat in the year 2014 on BJP ticket. After this, in the year 2019 also he was elected MP from the same seat.

By winning two consecutive Lok Sabha elections, he gained political recognition in the area. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had once again expressed confidence in him and made him a candidate from Amla.

However, in this election he had to face defeat from Samajwadi Party candidate Neeraj Maurya. Since the election defeat, there were discussions about his displeasure with the party organization. Now with the announcement of leaving BJP, these differences have come out in the open.

Discussion regarding Rajya Sabha ticket also

Dharmendra Kashyap’s decision has come at a time when political activities are going on in Uttar Pradesh regarding Rajya Sabha elections. BJP has announced its candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, but Dharmendra Kashyap’s name was not included in the list.

In political discussions, not getting the Rajya Sabha ticket is also being linked to his displeasure. However, Dharmendra Kashyap has publicly raised the issue of importance being given to opponents in the organization and no action being taken against them.

The candidates announced by BJP include the names of other leaders including Dharampal Singh and Shruti Gangwar. After the announcement of the candidates, Dharmendra Kashyap’s social media post came to light.

Speculations intensify about joining Samajwadi Party

Dharmendra Kashyap’s joining Samajwadi Party after leaving BJP is being talked about the most. There have also been reports of him being in contact with SP President Akhilesh Yadav.

When Dharmendra Kashyap was asked about joining Samajwadi Party, he did not deny the possibility. However, he has not made any official announcement about joining any party.

He clarified that the final decision regarding political future will be taken after talking to supporters and workers. In such a situation, it is too early to say that he is definitely going to join Samajwadi Party.

Had political relations with SP earlier also

Dharmendra Kashyap’s political journey has not been limited to BJP only. He has also been previously associated with Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party. He has also got the responsibility of ministerial post in the Samajwadi Party government.

In the year 2014, he left Samajwadi Party and joined BJP. After this, he became MP for two consecutive terms on BJP ticket. Now after about 12 years, he has decided to separate from BJP.

Due to his old political connections, discussions about his return to SP are gaining strength. However, a formal decision in this regard is yet to come.

Discussion about daughter Kirti Kashyap also

Discussions have also started regarding the political future of Dharmendra Kashyap’s daughter Kirti Kashyap. It is being told that Kirti Kashyap is active in preparations for the upcoming assembly elections.

In such a situation, Dharmendra Kashyap’s next political decision may also affect his family’s election strategy. However, no official announcement has been made yet regarding Kirti Kashyap contesting the assembly elections from any party.
