Blueprint for a ‘New Bengal’ Ready; Priority to be Given to Education, Health, and Industry
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister [Suvendu] has made a major announcement regarding a new direction for the state’s development. He stated that in the coming years, a “New Bengal” will be built upon four key pillars: education, health, employment, and industrial development. The Chief Minister clarified that the state government aims to create new employment opportunities for the youth, strengthen the education system, expand healthcare services, and boost industrial investment.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the state government expects adequate financial assistance and special budgetary support from the Central Government to accelerate development schemes. He believes that if the expected support from the Centre is received, infrastructure, industrial projects, and social welfare schemes can be fast-tracked.
Priority to Education and Health
The Chief Minister stated that quality education and superior healthcare services are the cornerstones of any state’s development. With this objective, facilities in government schools and higher education institutions will be expanded. Simultaneously, efforts will be made to equip hospitals with modern medical equipment, ensure the availability of doctors, and further strengthen healthcare services.
He added that narrowing the development gap between rural and urban areas is also among the government’s priorities, ensuring equal opportunities for every citizen.
Focus on Employment for Youth and Industry
The state government has identified job creation as a key component of its development agenda. According to the Chief Minister, various policy measures will be implemented to attract new industries, increase investment, and encourage local enterprises.
He noted that industrial expansion would generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities, thereby increasing the likelihood of the state’s youth finding better jobs within their own state.
Plan for Infrastructure Development
The Chief Minister also emphasized strengthening roads, transport, power, digital connectivity, and other basic amenities. He stated that robust infrastructure would attract investment and provide fresh momentum to industrial development.
The government aims to extend the benefits of development schemes to rural areas as well, ensuring balanced development across all parts of the state. Expectation of Support from the Centre
The Chief Minister stated that adequate budgetary support from the Central Government is required to effectively implement the state’s development schemes. She expressed hope that sufficient funds would be allocated for West Bengal’s development projects in the upcoming budget.
