Delhi Police forms special task force.

Officials stated on Friday that the Delhi Police has constituted a special task force (STF) to investigate crimes related to paper leaks and other forms of malpractice in public examinations.

The STF will be headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) from the Crime Branch.

A circular issued on Friday stated, “With the approval of the Delhi Police Commissioner, an STF has been constituted to investigate cases under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.”

This task force will investigate crimes related to examinations conducted by major central recruitment agencies. These include the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), National Testing Agency (NTA), and various central government ministries and departments, along with their attached and subordinate offices responsible for recruitment. Its scope will also extend to any other authority notified by the central government from time to time.

In addition to conducting investigations, the STF will coordinate with prosecuting agencies to ensure the speedy trial of cases. The police stated that the objective is to facilitate daily court hearings to ensure the timely disposal of such matters. The overall supervision and administrative control of the STF will rest with the Special Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), who will issue directives to ensure effective investigation and prompt prosecution.

Officials said the move aims to ensure swift and professional investigation of examination-related crimes and to strengthen action against organized gangs involved in paper leaks and other forms of fraud.
