JHARKHAND: Train operations on the Dhanbad-New Delhi route have been severely disrupted following the derailment of a freight train. The incident has affected the movement of several long-distance trains, including the Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express, and passengers may face delays.
According to railway officials, train movement on the affected track was temporarily suspended after several wagons of the freight train derailed. Senior railway officials, an engineering team, and a relief squad rushed to the site immediately upon receiving news of the incident. Repair work is being carried out on a war footing to restore the track as quickly as possible.
Due to the incident, several key trains have been halted at various stations, while others have been diverted. The Railways has advised passengers to check the live running status of their trains before setting out, as the duration of the delay will depend on the progress of the track restoration work.
Preliminary reports indicate no passenger casualties, as the accident involved a freight train. However, the disruption to rail traffic is likely to affect the journeys of thousands of passengers.
The railway administration has ordered an inquiry into the cause of the accident. A detailed investigation will be conducted into technical faults, track conditions, and other potential factors. Additionally, necessary measures will be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Railway officials stated that train operations would be normalized in a phased manner once the track is restored. Passengers are urged to stay updated on their train’s status via the official railway website, the NTES app, or the railway helpline.
This incident has once again highlighted the challenge of ensuring the safe and smooth operation of both freight and passenger trains on busy rail routes. The Railways aims to normalize operations as soon as possible to minimize inconvenience to passengers.
