Akhil Akkineni is excited about the success but calm: “I’m not flying in the air”

Chennai: Akhil Akkineni’s latest release, “Lenin,” may have been a resounding success, but the actor says he’s grateful, but he’s firmly planted on the ground and isn’t jumping in the air just yet.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, actor Akhil Akkineni opened up about his latest film, “Lenin,” which has proven to be a huge success. The film has grossed over ₹61 crore in its first three days of release and is on its way to becoming a blockbuster.
When asked if his father, Nagarjuna, said anything special after the film’s success became clear, Akhil replied, “No, I don’t think anything special was said. Just a special hug.”
But would that have made all the trouble worth it? The actor replied, “Absolutely. It’s always rewarding. As long as your honest efforts are appreciated — look, we work for the audience. We work for them so that they can understand our content, enjoy our content. So, in the end, when they understand it, what more can I ask for? This is the perfect scenario for me. I’m very grateful, but no, I’m not jumping on the air just yet. I still have a long way to go.”
While Akhil is happy that the film is on its way to becoming a blockbuster, he’s even happier that his film’s distributor has broken even within the first three days of its release.
Akhil says, “I’m sure the way things are going, we’ll get there (the 100 crore mark). Yes, but before that, I got the most beautiful message from my distributor this morning, saying, ‘Sir, I’ve broken even. I’m also in profit from today.'” Just three days later. I can’t tell you how incredibly rewarding and empowering this makes me feel. In the first weekend, all my sons are profitable, and I’m sitting happily with my family today. They’re happy at home with their families. This gives me immense satisfaction. I truly mean it.”
For those who don’t know, director Murali Kishore Abburu’s Telugu film ‘Lenin’, starring actors Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashree Borse, was released on July 10 this year.
