Mamata said – do not try to weaken the party

West Bengal: A major development has come to light in politics, where internal tension in the party has increased further after the resignation of senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Chandrima Bhattacharya. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reacted strongly to this development through Facebook Live and gave a clear message to the rebel leaders that those who want to leave the party can do so, but attempts to weaken TMC will not be tolerated. Mamata Banerjee said in her address, “Those who want to join BJP, go, but do not try to break TMC.” His statement is being seen as an attempt to unite the party workers and prevent internal rebellion. He also said that any attempt to weaken the organization will not be accepted. This controversy further escalated when Chandrima Bhattacharya resigned from the party alleging that she was hurt by Mamata Banerjee’s behaviour. After this, dissatisfaction within TMC started coming out openly. According to sources, a situation of division has arisen in TMC after the party suffered a huge loss in the 2026 assembly elections. According to reports, many MLAs have become active by forming separate factions within the party, due to which the organizational crisis is deepening. At the same time, after the election results, the situation of rebellion in the party has intensified. One group has started calling itself the real TMC, raising questions on the leadership. This group has also made serious allegations against the party structure and leadership. Amidst this entire incident, the Election Commission has sought answers from both the factions of TMC. The Commission has given instructions to clarify the situation by July 6, as both the parties are claiming the party’s name, election symbol and other resources. Responding to this political dispute, the opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party has called it an internal matter of TMC. BJP leaders say that this matter will be resolved only through legal and constitutional process. Political analysts believe that this entire incident has once again destabilized the politics of West Bengal. The growing discontent within the party may indicate major political changes in the times to come.
