Alert of heavy rain in many districts of Tamil Nadu, Meteorological Department issued warning

Tamil Nadu: Rainfall is expected to continue in several districts over the next two days. The Chennai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain at isolated places in various parts of the state for Tuesday (June 30) and Wednesday (July 1). According to the department, the weather will change due to the influence of a low pressure area extending from northern coastal Tamil Nadu to the Kumarikadal region.
The Meteorological Department stated that light to moderate rain is expected in many areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal between June 30 and July 1. Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and strong winds are also expected at several locations during this period. People have been advised to remain vigilant during inclement weather.
According to the department, isolated heavy rain is likely on Tuesday, especially in Coimbatore district and the hilly areas of the Nilgiris. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also possible in these areas. People and tourists living in hilly areas have been advised to monitor the weather conditions.
The weather is likely to continue to affect several districts on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is likely in some areas of the Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Erode, and Salem districts, as well as the hilly areas of Coimbatore and Tiruppur. Concerned departments have been instructed to remain vigilant in view of the possibility of locally heavy rainfall in these areas.
The Meteorological Department stated that due to the active low-pressure area, many parts of the state will remain cloudy, with intermittent spells of rain likely. While heavy rain is not expected in all districts, light to moderate rain is possible at several locations.
Amidst the rain potential, heat also persists in many parts of the state. On Monday, maximum temperatures exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit in several cities. The highest temperature recorded was 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit in Cuddalore. Additionally, temperatures of 102.02 degrees Celsius were recorded in Vellore, 100.76 degrees Celsius in Puducherry, 100.58 degrees Celsius in Tiruttani (Thiruvallur), 100.4 degrees Celsius in Meenambakkam and Nagaitala areas of Chennai, 100.22 degrees Celsius in Nungambakkam, and 100.04 degrees Celsius in Parangipettai.
Weather experts say that despite rain in some areas due to the low pressure, humidity and heat may persist in many places. Therefore, people have been advised to exercise caution and pay attention to updates issued by the local administration and the Meteorological Department.
The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorms and strong winds. People living in hilly and sensitive areas have also been advised to monitor weather conditions and follow administrative instructions if necessary.
