Bengal MLA signature case: Abhishek Banerjee to appear before CID today.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to appear at the West Bengal Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters later on Sunday for questioning regarding a case involving a signature mismatch.
The matter pertains to the signatures of certain Trinamool MLAs on a government document submitted to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. This will be the second time Abhishek Banerjee—nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee—appears at the CID office for questioning in this case.
He was previously questioned for approximately six hours on the evening of June 11.
At that time, he had appeared for questioning after a single-judge vacation bench of the Calcutta High Court set a deadline for him to present himself at the CID office by 6 PM on June 11.
Trinamool Congress MLA and former journalist Kunal Ghosh has also been summoned to the CID headquarters at Bhabani Bhawan in South Kolkata on Sunday for questioning in connection with this case. Sources indicate a possibility that the CID investigating officer might question both Banerjee and Ghosh simultaneously. In fact, Abhishek Banerjee is slated to undergo multiple rounds of questioning on Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, June 15, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will question him at its Salt Lake office—located in the northern outskirts of Kolkata—regarding the multi-crore cash-for-jobs scam involving school appointments in West Bengal.
The ED had already issued a notice to him in this matter on June 3.
Finally, on Tuesday, June 16, he is required to appear at the CID headquarters again. He will be questioned regarding allegations of inciting violence and threatening Union Home Minister Amit Shah prior to the recent assembly elections in the state.
CID officials had issued a notice to him regarding this matter on the evening of June 12.
