Tragic incident in Panvel: Man dies after jumping under a moving ST bus.
Maharashtra: A tragic incident came to light in Panvel on Friday evening, where an unidentified man allegedly committed suicide by jumping under a moving State Transport (ST) bus. The incident occurred near Orion Mall when the bus was passing through the road. In this accident the person died on the spot.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 7:45 pm. At that time, a Maharashtra State Transport (ST) bus going from Thane to Satara was passing through the road in front of Orion Mall. According to eyewitnesses, a man aged around 35 to 40 suddenly came onto the road and ran towards the fast-moving bus. It was reported that he jumped under the rear wheel of the bus without any warning.
The person was seriously crushed after coming under the wheels of the bus and died on the spot. After the incident, there was chaos among the people present nearby and the police was immediately informed.
As soon as the information was received, Panvel police reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The police have taken the body into their custody and sent it for post-mortem. The deceased has not been identified yet and the police are making efforts to identify him.
Police officials say that in the initial investigation it appears to be a case of suicide, although investigation is being done from all aspects. It is also being seen whether this is a suspicious death due to some other reason.
The footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident site is being scrutinized to clarify why and how the person suddenly stepped in front of the bus. Police have also started interrogating the bus driver and passengers.
Due to this incident, traffic on the road was affected for some time, which was later controlled by the police and normalized. Local people have expressed deep sorrow over this painful incident.
At present, the police have registered the case and started further investigation and efforts have been intensified to establish the identity of the deceased. Officials say that the real reason for the incident will become clear only after the investigation is completed.
